Mangosteen fruit has just been made available for the first time in the US., so what could be more timely than this Mangosteen Clafouti Dessert Recipe. Mangosteens are the size and shape of an orange but with dark purple skin and a thick stem. They're delicious to eat fresh, and are packed with powerful antioxidants and offer numerous health benefits. So why not drop by an Asian market, pick up some mangsteens, and try making this delicious Thai-style clafouti(?). Clafouti is a very old-style dessert from France characterized by a cloud-like custard jeweled with fresh fruit. Mangosteen is especially well-suited to the dessert, offering a mixture of both sweet and sour flavors.
